Maine expands gun rights while Idaho lawmakers balk :: 07/16/2015
Idaho lawmakers should take note of what just happened in Maine. On July 8, Gov. Paul LePage signed a bill that will let Mainers carry a concealed weapon without a permit. That makes Maine the seventh state to allow guns to be carried outside of view and under clothing without government permission.

The Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) has released a new report showing that as concealed carry has grown a tremendous degree in recent years, crime is dropping. The study wisely does not try to stretch and claim that correlation equals causation, as there are too many variables involved to make such a definitive statement.

CPRC: With Maine, 10 states no longer require concealed handgun permits in all or virtually all of the state :: 07/14/2015
Last Wednesday, Maine Gov. Paul LePage signed into law a bill to eliminate the concealed gun permit requirement in Maine. Permit requirements also ended in Kansas and Mississippi on July 1st. That raises the total of states that don’t require permits anywhere in the state to eight (also including Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Wyoming, and Vermont).
