Bump stocks back on store shelves in three states :: 03/04/2023

Though for how long is anyone’s guess. After the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down the ATF’s administrative ban on bump stocks, the Department of Justice had until last Monday to appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. But after the DOJ failed to do so the Fifth Circuit’s order took effect, and that means that in Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi bump stocks are now once again available for purchase.

Illinois Jumps on the BAN-Body Armor Bandwagon :: 03/04/2023

Illinois – Illinois’ new House bill HB3238 “Provides that, with certain exceptions, beginning January 1, 2024, it is unlawful for any person within this State to knowingly possess an armor plate, body armor, or military helmet.”

NICS Numbers for February 2023, Fourth Highest for Gun Sales :: 03/04/2023

In February of 2023, the number of gun sales and total National Instant background Check System (NICS) checks continue to be very close to the numbers from February of last year, 2022.  The number of gun sales from 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023 only varies by 8 percent from the lowest (1.24 million in 2020) to the highest (1.35 million in 2021). It appears the United States has reached a semi-stable level of gun sales close to what was an unprecedented record of sales in 2016. The number of gun sales for February of 2023 is 1.30 million.

United States State Department Bans Strelok Ballistic App :: 03/04/2023

New sanctions against Russian interests include the popular shooting apps Strelok and Strelok Pro. Used for ballistic calculation, the apps were developed and maintained by Russian citizen Igor Vladimirovich Borisov. Igor was informed Saturday that he and, by extension, his apps were now on the sanctioned list.
