The Footnote to End All Gun Control :: 04/03/2023
The United States of America is founded on the presumption of innocence. After the Supreme Court’s landmark New York State Pistol Rifle Association v. Bruen Supreme Court decision, there is now a presumption that gun laws are unconstitutional unless the government can prove there was a similar law at the time of the ratification of the Second Amendment.
Washington Post: “No One Needs” a Gun 1 in 20 Americans Have :: 04/03/2023
Last Wednesday, The Washington Post published an editorial entitled, “No one needs an AR-15 — or any gun tailor-made for mass shootings.” That piece followed an earlier series of articles about the AR-15 under the heading, “AMERICAN ICON: The gun that divides a nation.” Both efforts were meant to echo and amplify Joe Biden’s call to ban semiautomatic long guns and “large capacity” magazines. They were, however, ironically self-refuting and established beyond any doubt that AR-15s are in fact shielded by the Second Amendment. Meanwhile, the logic of the authors’ arguments (such as it was), had no limiting principles and would inevitably lead to calls for banning ALL guns.
Lethal Vector: Incentives to Kill Innocents Rage Forward :: 04/02/2023
Mass murders in schools and public venues will certainly continue and get worse. Why? Because the factors push in one direction. Angry and disturbed people exist at the statistical margins who: (1) would just as soon commit suicide as live; (2) want revenge or attention; and (3) know they will never be meaningfully punished for any crime including mass murder. The prime directive for these dangerous actors is to kill in an infamous splashy way.
Op-ed claims Founding Fathers would want gun control :: 04/02/2023
I’m a big believer in the Constitution, including the Bill of Rights. It’s why I’m a Second Amendment advocate. The way I see it, our Founding Fathers put together a document that did a pretty good job of limiting the government and securing our rights.
Teachers are likely illegally carrying after Uvalde and Parkland: it’s time to legalize it :: 04/02/2023
It happened again. A lunatic broke into a private Christian school in Nashville, TN and took the lives of three innocent 9-year-old children and three adults. Nashville police released surveillance and bodycam footage and we can see how easily the attacker shot through the glass doors, walked in, and took her own sweet time to find innocents to kill. There is no excuse for this behavior, regardless of what the attacker may have been going through, even though the cesspool that is social media has revealed enough idiots who are justifying or rationalizing the attack.
