'Be a Victim' is No Way to Run the Republic :: 05/02/2022

U.S.A. – -(Ammoland.com)- “Police are urging Murfreesboro residents not to confront car burglars after a homeowner exchanged gunfire with a suspect this weekend,” NBC Nashville affiliate WSMV4 reports.

“We urge residents to use caution and never approach or engage with criminals,” the Murfreesboro Police Department advises. “You don’t want to take a chance of being shot or killed. Property can be replaced, lives can’t. The best advice for residents is, if you see or hear anything suspicious, or see someone breaking into your car, call police immediately.”

“Unfortunately, we can’t be on every street at the same time,” another police spokesman admits before making an unlikely promise. “It’s only a matter of time before we arrest these criminals and hold them accountable.”

It’s true—as the saying goes, when seconds count, the police are minutes away. As for the B.S. pledge about catching the perps and making them pay, the guy spouting that knows it’s nonsense, but it’s what his bosses expect him to say.

“Our Violent Crimes Unit is dedicated to solving each case that it is assigned,” the Murfreesboro Police Department claims on its website.  “However, sometimes many unsolved cases are placed on hold, primarily to a lack of evidence or witnesses.”

Note the operative word is “violent.” Property crimes are a much lower priority. And most of either kind go unsolved in the U.S.

Neighborhood Scout compiles crime data to rate Murfreesboro 15 out of a scale of 100, meaning 85 percent of U.S. cities are safer (at least it beats nearby Nashville, which comes in at a “whopping” 3). They would not have such dismal numbers if they had a handle on things, first on catching bad guys and then on actually “holding them accountable.”

Any bets if they do catch the sociopathic morons who exchanged fire with the homeowner, they’ll find repeat arrests and that they’re “prohibited” by law from having guns? Or that those who choose premeditated criminality remain unmoved and unreformed by government grant programs, that is, more “redistribution” of property coerced out of the productive sector…?

No doubt, there are reasons why citizens should think twice about confronting those committing criminal acts, but prominent among those is that the same “law” that fails to “secure the Blessings of Liberty” will turn on them should they try. Consider the legal ordeal of the McCloskeys, who showed a mob of property-destroying trespassers they were armed, and consider a truism observed on Instapundit:

“They want you cowering in your home, calling for police protection that their political action has made sure won’t come.”

The would-be controllers, that is, the violence monopolists, want you to view the police as the “Only Ones” qualified to be armed and to respond. They don’t want you to be capable and brave. Why?

Consider the entitled outrage visited on citizens who legitimately defend against predators, with the family members who raised the violent misfit demanding those refusing to be victims and successfully fighting back be the ones punished. Consider the political establishment that sustains, enables, and makes the criminal subculture an inevitable byproduct of planned dependency, siding with aggressors against defenders like George Zimmerman and Kyle Rittenhouse because that’s what garners more urban votes.

Just give those who claim your property (and more) what they want and call the police afterward. Then watch as conditioned surrender results in unchecked lawlessness and destruction spreading, until what “authorities” refused to control in problem neighborhoods engulfs (what were supposed to be) the centers of civilization. And no place within them is safe.

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious People,” John Adams told the Massachusetts Militia in 1798. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

That militia, which Adams and the other Founders deemed “necessary to the security of a free State,” is as officially and societally disparaged and undermined as morality and religion. Those who champion the indispensable value of all three are demonized (and prosecuted when the opportunity presents itself) as haters and extremists.

Unless and until that reality changes, we and any alliances we’ve formed are on our own in our respective neighborhoods (that is, areas of operation). That means it’s up to us and to our individual judgment, training, and knowledge of personal limitations to make the call on whether predatory actions are best forcefully engaged and resisted or surrendered to and endured.

With the stipulation that I’m not a lawyer and can’t give qualified legal advice, listen to someone who can if you ignore official platitudes and successfully “approach or engage”: Afterward, do not talk to the police. Don’t try to justify yourself to them no matter how sympathetic or understanding they appear to be. Anything you say can and will be held against you. Let your attorney do all your talking.

Don’t talk to reporters, either. Even if no criminal charges are involved, make your default assumption that disgruntled relatives looking for a revenge payday will retain a lawyer if they think they’ve got a shot, and use whatever you say to their advantage.
