A burglary suspect was arrested after a Brenham resident managed to hold her at gunpoint until law enforcement arrived.
According to Sheriff Otto Hanak, Washington County Deputies responded to a home located on Tommelson Creek Road on Monday around noon after someone reported a burglary in progress.
The homeowner, who was inside the residence, say she was startled by loud noises coming from her garage and realized someone was trying to break-in from the garage door.
The resident then retrieved a firearm to defend herself and held the suspect at gunpoint until Sheriff’s deputies arrived and made an arrest.
The suspect, Houston resident Devin Denise Brooks, 37, says she entered the home because her vehicle ran out of gas.
Brooks, who has an extensive criminal history, was arrested and charged with a 2nd Degree Felony, Burglary of Habitation and is currently being held in the Washington County jail on $100,000.00 bond.
