Police say the 43-year-old victim was shot several times and pronounced dead at the scene. Officers at the scene said the man showed up outside a home on the 200 block of West High around 8:40 p.m. and got into an argument with the homeowner.
We're told that at some point, the man pulled out a weapon and the homeowner ran back inside. Police say the man then broke into the house, and the homeowner then opened fire on him, shooting him several times.
Police say right now everyone is being very cooperative, including the victim's common-law spouse who was inside the house at the time.
No one has been arrested, and investigators say it appears to be a case of self-defense.
