An apparently jilted ex-lover was shot after he kicked down an apartment door belonging to his ex-girlfriend early Wednesday, police say.
Police then charged the man who was shot, identified as 48-year-old Orrian Anders, with burglary of a habitation. He remains in the hospital as of Wednesday afternoon.

Anders showed up to his ex’s apartment in the 2700 block of Oakcliff around 12:30 a.m. and allegedly barged into the home, according to Houston Police Department Lt. Larry Crowson. His ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend was also inside the apartment when the man broke in, Crowson said.
At some point, Anders started attacking the new boyfriend, who pulled a gun and shot the intruder “in fear for his safety,” Crowson said.
Anders was rushed to a nearby hospital where he is expected to survive. Police detained the woman and gunman, who were both questioned about what happened.
The boyfriend who shot Anders was not charged.
