A fatal early morning shooting in Jackson Thursday was done in self defense, according to the District Attorney General.
The Jackson Police Department responded to a Shot Spotter alert on Martha Street at around 1:45 a.m., according to a JPD news release.
JPD officers identified the shooter and detained the individual for questioning. Tristan Kinnes, 32, of Jackson arrived at a local hospital and later died of his injuries at a hospital in Memphis.
After investigating the incident and conferring with the District Attorney General, the shooter was released and no charges were filed.
