BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Authorities say a woman acted in self-defense in the shooting death of a man who abducted and sexually assaulted her near Birmingham last month.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office spokesman Randy Christian said in an email Wednesday that the 26-year-old woman was justified in the Nov. 3 fatal shooting of Jeremy Arnold Ford. Authorities say they found 25-year-old Ford dead from a gunshot would inside an apartment parking lot in Forestdale.
The woman was found in the apartment parking lot.
Authorities say an investigation revealed that the woman was abducted at gunpoint, raped and driven to different locations by Ford. Authorities say Ford sexually assaulted the woman again inside the apartment.
Authorities say the woman was able to get hold of a gun and shoot the man at some point.
