This legislation would encourage local governments to effectively destroy Constitutional protections through the enactment of local gun laws.
Title: Local Public Health And Safety Protection Act
Subject: Crime and law enforcement: Child safety and welfare: Criminal justice information and records: Firearms and explosives: Intergovernmental relations: Law enforcement administration and funding: Licensing and registrations: Parks, recreation areas, trails: Retail and wholesale trades: Sales and excise taxes: State and local government operations
Description: Authorizes the Department of Justice to make grants to states that allow local governments to impose firearms laws that are more restrictive than state firearms laws. A state that receives a grant must award subgrants to localities to help implement the more restrictive firearms laws.
