PHILADELPHIA >> Police say a homeowner fatally shot a robbery suspect during a home invasion in northeast Philadelphia.
Gunfire broke out late Monday in the Lawncrest section of the city.
Chief Inspector Scott Small says a 35-year-old masked man barged into the home with a gun and announced a robbery to the five people inside. He says the 27-year-old homeowner drew his own weapon and shot the suspect, killing him. Authorities didn’t immediately identify him.
Small says two women in the home also went to get their guns, but investigators don’t believe they used their weapons.
Authorities found cash and what appears to be marijuana nearby. The five people in the house were taken for questioning.
No charges have been filed.
