Pennsylvania Self-Defense: Home Invasion In Cumbola :: 08/12/2016

The man who state police identify as the victim of a violent home invasion is speaking out. Troopers say the resident in Blythe Township's village of Cumbola shot an intruder.

Bruce Mason believed he had no other option when he shot the man suspected of breaking into his home. He was startled out of his sleep around 1AM on Friday after someone banged on the front door of his Market Street home in Cumbola.

Mason says the suspect was looking for a woman who ended up being in a house next door...but the man continued trying to get inside the victim's home.

Mason then allegedly shot the suspect in the abdomen with a 40 caliber gun that he says he's licensed to carry. Authorities took the unidentified 40-year-old suspect to Lehigh Valley Hospital.

State Police have not yet released the name of the suspect and so far investigators are not saying what (if any) charges they are considering in the shooting.
