CINCINNATI - A love triangle in North College Hill ended in deadly gun violence, police said.
North College Hill police said Brianna Ware, 26, died in the shooting on the 7100 block of Salmar Court.
“I heard gunshots,” a neighbor told dispatchers during a 911 call. “I heard pow, pow, pow.”
According to investigators, the gunfire erupted during an argument between Ware, and the ex-boyfriend of her current girlfriend.
Investigators said the man had been collecting items at the house after a breakup.
However, after a few trips, the man told investigators Ware opened the door with an AK-47 pistol.
The man, who has a concealed carry permit, told police that he shot Ware multiple times in self-defense.
“They were actually making trips with the kids' clothing and the property items,” police Chief Ryan Schrand said. “Suddenly, he was startled with her in the doorway with a gun, and he pulled out his, and shot.”
Ware was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time.
