COVINGTON, Ohio (WDTN) – A Miami County family takes down a would-be robber in their home.
The incident happened in the 5500 of North Rangeline Road just outside of Covington Friday night.
According to deputies, the family, including parents, their two children and three nephews. returned from dinner and caught the suspect trying to steal weapons.
The father fought with the intruder while the mother and one of the kids secured the weapons.
The son then loaded a shotgun and handed it to his father who held the intruder at gunpoint until officers arrived.
43-year-old Robert Molihan, Jr., of Marion County, was taken into custody. He is in the Miami County Jail facing aggravated burglary charges.
Deputies did say that Molihan had “prior knowledge” that weapons were in the resident but did not say how he knew.
Molihan allegedly had an accomplice who dropped him off at the home and was to pick him up later. The accomplice has not yet been identified or apprehended.
