Deputies are investigating a shooting near Rosman involving a father and son.
It happened about 7:25 a.m. Thursday, July 8, on Stamey Creek Road in Transylvania County.
Authorities said when deputies arrived on scene, they found Billy Jack (BJ) Gage III who had been shot in the abdomen. He was transported to Mission Hospital with serious injuries.

"Based on information gathered during the investigation, investigators believe that BJ assaulted his father Billy. Billy asked BJ to leave the residence. Billy Jack Gage III was in surgery about noon Thursday, authorities said.
"As far as suspects are concerned, there was a suspect in the house -- or shooter. Both have went to our office at this time. The investigation is ongoing at this time," said Lt. Chase Owen with Transylvania County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations unit.
Deputies say there is extensive history of violence at this home where the shooting took place.
