The Raleigh County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Friday shooting in which a woman allegedly fatally wounded her husband.
Sheriff Steve Tanner said the shooter is in custody and the scene is still being processed. The husband died as a result of the wounds he received.
The call came in around 2 p.m. on Redden Ridge Road in Daniels that a man had been shot in a domestic incident. Police said the shooter was still on-scene when they got there.
“We are fairly certain that this is an isolated incident,” Tanner said. “The public is in no danger and there is no one out running around posing a threat to the public. We’re not trying to belittle the incident by any means, but we just want to assure the public of their safety.”
Tanner said the names of the alleged shooter and the victim will be released later.
Charges may not be pressed against the shooter, but that is up to the Raleigh County prosecuting attorney, Tanner said. The shooting may have been in self-defense, but that is not entirely clear yet, Tanner said.
