LOS LUNAS, N.M.- Two people were shot after forcing their way into a home in Los Lunas, according to New Mexico State Police.
On Saturday night, Stephen Benevides, 43, and Brittany Torres, 34, knocked on the door of the home on Valencia Drive.
The homeowner heard the knock, and even recognized the faces at the door. But this time, they were asking for money, according to court documents.

Benevides was allegedly holding a knife and Torres was holding an orange baseball bat, according to documents.
Police said the homeowner reached for a gun near the front door and shot both of them.
According to court documents, after being shot both suspects ran off, collapsing on Canada Street, about 75 yards from the home.
They were both taken to a hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. So far, only Benevides has been booked into the Valencia County Detention Center.
Torres is facing the same charges, including aggravated burglary, attempts to commit a felony, and more. She will be booked when she's out of the hospital.
The homeowner has not been charged in this case.
In documents, investigators noted a sign on the front yard gate that stated it was "private property."
