CLARE, MI — Police are investigating the fatal shooting of an alleged intruder in Clare County.
About 6 a.m. on Thursday, May 5, Clare police officers responded to a reported home invasion in progress at a residence on McEwan Street. Officers arrived to the sound of gunshots coming from inside the residence.
Officers soon determined a homeowner had shot the alleged intruder, causing fatal wounds.
Neither the homeowner nor officers were injured.
Police have not disclosed the decedent’s name, age, sex, or hometown. They have also not said if there was any prior connection between the resident and the decedent.
The incident remains under investigation by Clare police officers and Michigan State Police troopers.
