Media Lies: CNN Becomes Internet Laughingstock After Posting Chart of Things Harder to Get Than a Gun :: 06/24/2016

Following the massacre in Orlando, as was the case with San Bernardino, Sandy Hook Elementary School and other mass shootings, President Obama, Hillary Clinton and other Democrats predictably called for additional gun-control legislation.

Add CNN to the list. On Friday, the network tweeted the following:

Apparently “The Most Trusted Name in News” believed that followers would blindly believe their “examples.” Yeah, no:

Not only were some people not buying, they refuted CNN’s claim with some examples of their own:

And some people pointed out a glaring example that CNN “conveniently” left off its chart:

On its website under the headline “It’s easier to get a gun than to get a puppy,” CNN lists various requirements for obtaining the examples on the chart. Yet, for guns, it simply says: “No personal references. No home visits.”

The network must have “forgotten,” the classes of people who are ineligible to own, ship, or transport firearms or ammunition. Here’s a partial list from the NRA-ILA website:

Those convicted of crimes punishable by imprisonment for over one year, except state misdemeanors punishable by two years or less
Unlawful users of certain depressant, narcotic, or stimulant drugs
Those adjudicated as mental defectives or incompetents or those committed to any mental institution
Illegal aliens
Those persons dishonorably discharged from the Armed Forces
Persons subject to a court order that restrains such persons from harassing, stalking, or threatening an intimate partner
Persons convicted in any court of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence

Then of course there’s the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) established under the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (Brady Act) of 1993.

I may be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that buying a puppy is excluded from “all of the above.”
