MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) - Riley Co. Police say a man is in critical condition after he was shot after a road rage incident late Wednesday afternoon.
Riley Co. Police say they were called to Manhattan Town Center’s northeast parking lot at 5:18 p.m. on reports of shots fired.
Riley Co. Police say a man, 21, and a woman, 20, were in an isolated altercation with a 33-year-old man, who was found suffering gunshot wounds near the intersection of 3rd and Kearney.
RCPD Director Dennis Butler told 13 NEWS that the shooting stemmed from an apparent road rage incident, and the man was approaching the couple with a crowbar when he was shot.
Butler said the 21-year-old man, who was the car’s driver, opened fire in self-defense.
Butler says the 33-year-old man was rushed to Via Christi hospital in Manhattan before being airlifted to Stormont Vail in Topeka in critical condition.
No other information has been released.
