A security guard shot and wounded an armed robber during a holdup Friday night at an off-track betting parlor in northeast Colorado Springs, Colorado Springs police said.
The 29-year-old man, whose name was not released, was shot as he fled from Post Time at 3570 N. Academy Blvd. with stolen cash around 9 p.m., according to Colorado Springs police.
He was arrested near the business, which takes wagers on horse, harness and greyhound races nationwide and in Canada, and brought to a local hospital. He’s expected to survive, said Lt. Darrin Abbink, who did not elaborate on the man’s injuries.
The suspect was armed with a handgun, Abbink said.
Investigators are still determining what charges the wounded man will face and if the security guard will be charged, Abbink said.
No other injuries were reported.
Police believe other suspects may be involved.
