A 61-year-old yoga instructor originally from Texas fatally shot two robbers who broke into her home in Chile this week.

Four men broke into the home of Hari Nam Kaur Khalsa in Batuco, about 20 miles north of the Chilean capital of Santiago, late Thursday, El Mercurio reported.
Officials said a pair of the robbers found the yoga instructor in her bedroom. Despite them hitting her in the head with a gun and trying to tie her up, she was able to get free and grab a revolver hidden beneath her pillow.
Khalsa shot the two men, killing one instantly. The other, badly wounded, died in the yard after running outside. Neither man has been identified.
The two other robbers ran off.
Authorities said Khalsa acted in self-defense and will not face charges. Because they fear she may face retaliation, police have requested a security escort for her.
"This is not a grandma as you can imagine," said José Nuñez, who runs the building where Khalsa lives. "So don't be imagining a little grandma who killed two crooks with her cane."
Khalsa, who was born in Texas and studied at the University of Texas at Austin, has been teaching kundalini yoga in Chile since 1979, according to a biography on her yoga academy's website. She told a local radio station she did not want to discuss the robbery.
