DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - A man at the center of a fatal shooting in Dothan may not face charges because police say he acted in self-defense.
Dothan police say Dennis Allen, 36, turned himself into police Monday and stated he was the person involved in the shooting which happened in the 900 block of Sixth Ave. Monday.
Investigators conducted multiple interviews with witnesses and Jackson and it was determined that this was an ongoing conflict between Jackson and McKay. Jackson is believed to have acted in self-defense and no charges have been filed at this time.
Investigators say the conflict between the two men happened over a period of a few days and on the day of the shooting, Jackson called to report threats made against him.
Officials say the case will be presented to a grand jury at a later date.
