Montgomery police are investigating a Sunday night fatal shooting in Gibbs Village as a case of self-defense.
Police officers and fire medics responded to the 2400 block of Crossway Drive about 7:45 p.m. after receiving a report of a person shot.
At the scene, officers found a woman with a life-threatening injury. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Williams initially said four people were detained following the shooting, but no one had been charged with any crimes.
Monday morning, Williams said that although the investigation indicated the shooting was self-defense, the case would be presented to a grand jury as a possible justifiable homicide.
Since the case is currently a death investigation, the name of the woman killed will not be released, Williams said.
