2A group names and shames Tim McGraw, Taylor Swift, and other country stars as "gun prohibitionists" :: 01/13/2023

Just because an entertainer sings a song about a truck, their dog, and a woman leaving them, does not make them a country singer. Country and pop-country music today is very different from the more tar-heely sounds of the folk music of the Guthries, soulfulness of Johnny Cash, and even taking a gamble on Kenny Rogers (who was a rocker at one point). Part of country music comes an alleged country culture. One of drinking from mason jars, wearing red flannel, cowboy hats and boots, and a love for the United States of America. Shabby chic designers, much like some of these paid circus bears, have stolen the look of country. What about the spirit of country music? Just because an entertainer tries to sing the song does not mean they walk the walk. A number of popular country singers are rather anti-gun.

Our friends over at the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said in a statement recently that 19 country singers have been added to their naughty list. What’s this naughty list we’re talking about? The “Don’t Feed the Gun Prohibitionists” list, where company CEOs etc are noted for having an anti-civil liberty view on things.

Headlined by Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, and Taylor Swift, 19 prominent County music artists have been added to the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms’ (CCRKBA) gun prohibitionist list.

The list of performers, obviously tone deaf to their core audience as well as oblivious to the Second Amendment, have clearly declared their disdain for reasonable self-defense, according to the website Taste of Country. Their names have been included on the list of “Don’t Feed the Gun Prohibitionists,” an ongoing project of the CCRKBA altering gun owners and citizens of those who donate to anti-gun control entities, or who publicly speak out against basic liberties.

“It is shocking that the culture of Country music has been infiltrated by liberal politics,” remarked CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Apparently, these figureheads who are wildly popular across middle America fail to recognize the importance of fundamental rights to law-abiding citizens and public safety.”

Diva Taylor Swift has been a thorn in the side of firearms advocates after she donated a large sum of money to March for Our Lives organization, a Michael Bloomberg funded entity promoting gun control. The singer has also been a proponent of firearms restrictions reflected through several viral social media posts.

Like most every other faction of the entertainment business, the artists are paid to do a job. Get on the stage and entertain. If you want to talk some politically motivated artist that pumps out ballads for their cause, that’s one thing. But let’s be honest here, many of our so-called country singers are just remanufactured pop singers in boots, and their opinions mean just as little as our Hollywood glitterati. Is it refreshing when there are artists out there like the great late Charlie Daniels? You bet. However, it’s rather tone deaf when artists attempt to emulate a way of life, when in reality they’re nothing like those they purport to be all about.

“These Country music performers may be talented on the stage, but have clearly missed a couple of notes in giving a lackluster performance in regards to civics,” quipped Gottlieb. “Unfortunately, their celebrity status gives them a certain amount of credibility to the masses and the ability to spread propaganda and myths that are a detriment to the Second Amendment.

“It is both ironic and disappointing that some of these artists employ armed security professionals,” said Gottlieb. “The hypocrisy of the left never fails and is an unrelenting force against gun rights ultimately wasting valuable resources to battle against the nonsense.”

The “Don’t Feed the Gun Prohibitionists” project was launched in 2019 by Gottlieb, and takes information obtained from the Federal Election Commission database and other sources to inform the public about those in the business world and celebrities who donate, or are aligned with the anti-gun movement.

When it comes to our resources, it’s important to know where our hard earned money goes. There’s close to no way to conduct business in 2023 without dealing with an entity that’s anti-civil liberty, however at least being informed is indeed half the battle. Just like petitioning our government, we can petition private companies and paid entertainers by letting them know what we think of them. We can vote with our dollars too. One of the big takeaways here is beware of the sheep in wolf’s clothes. Not every truck that’s sung about has a gun rack in the rear window.
